Pasir Ris 8 has been in the news since late 2018 when word of the white site in Pasir Ris saw the submissions of three bids from developers. Bidders included Far East Organisation, a joint effort from Singapore Press Holdings and Kajima Development and the winning bid from Phoenix Residential and Phoenix Commercial, both owned by Allgreen and Kerry Properties (The Straits Times, 2018). Far East Organisation and Phoenix Residential and Phoenix Commercial went on to the second stage of evaluation, with the winning bid going to the highest bidder which is Pheonix Residential and Phoenix Commercial (The Straits Times, 2019 and SRX, 2019). The new mixed development in Pasir Ris was also mentioned in the area and stated to provide retail and food and beverage outlets for residents and the general public. (The Straits Times, 2017).
